Music Monday- (new) Bat For Lashes

I have been waiting and waiting for Natasha Khan's new album.  I'm glad its finally out!! Here is one of her new songs, 'All Your Gold', from the album 'The Haunted Man'.  There is a great interview at this link, where she discusses the cover art and the concept of the album, if you are interested.

LivFit Clothing

A few months ago I found this cute new fitness clothing company call LivFit.  I was excited about it being local and offering something cute, new options for workout gear.  I contacted them and was going to do a home party but after a couple months of planning and waiting for them to get more inventory in they contacted me and said they needed to cancel my party :(  I was bummed and so were they but being a new company they have had a hard time keeping things in stock and may not be doing home parties anymore.  The only good thing that came out of this is that they offered me a free fitness top since they had to cancel my party.  That was very nice of them!

I wanted to let you guys know that if you were interested in coming to the party then you should still go to the website and order some cute fitness clothes, because I know that having a new outfit makes me extra motivated to go to the gym ha ha!  Here is the top they sent me.  I really like it!  I haven't seen anything like this style before and it fit well.  I have a very long torso so it could be about an inch or so longer for me but it would be perfect for most other people.  Check them out!

(I took this Saturday morning before going to Zumba so don't look too close.. obviously I don't get dolled up for the gym. Also sorry for the high-quality iphone photos)

Here are a couple other cute things from the website.

Music Monday- Psy (of course)

First of all, where did this guy come from?  Beside the woodwork.  Oh he is from South Korea and the Wikipedia page said,

"The music video has been viewed over 336 million times on YouTube of September 30, 2012, making it the most watched video of 2012 on that site".

When asked what the meaning of the song was, he said, "he intended a twisted sense of humor by claiming himself to be "Gangnam Style" when everything about the song, dance, looks, and the music video is far from being such a high class.[16] In another interview with CNN, Psy added that:

'People who are actually from Gangnam never proclaim that they are — it’s only the posers and wannabes that put on these airs and say that they are "Gangnam Style" — so this song is actually poking fun at those kinds of people who are trying so hard to be something that they’re not.' ".

This song is so dang catchy and I want to do a Zumba routine to it, now wouldn't that be fun?!  You could do the funny horsey moves, like in the video!

Here is the best part-- Owen loves this song and he rocks out to it, thoroughly.  The proof is below!

September Book Club!!

Here is a pic from the last book club, which I hosted.  I sure do love these ladies and we missed everyone who couldn't make it!  I picked the book, 'The Fault in Our Stars' by John Green, for this next month, it is supposed to be a great book!

I STOLE these pics from Amanda, I hope you don't mind :)  She took great photos and they were all ready to go! ha ha!

Here are some details from Book Club

Here are the ladies making glitter pumpkins!
Thanks everyone that could come, it was so fun!!!

The Nerd in Me

Yesterday was a special day, I have been waiting for months for this package in the mail... What was in the little package you ask?? The newest book by one of my favorite authors J.R. Ward.  She does virtual signings since she doesn't tour all over for book signings and I was way excited to get my own personalized book!!!  She is doing a book signing in Cincinnati, OH tomorrow at B&N if any of you are lucky enough to be close enough to go... I will be jealous if you are!!!

At any rate, here are the pics to show you how awesome this book is.  By the way, her books do have some bad language and are romance novels (wink, wink) so they are not for the faint of heart.  You have been warned, don't judge me ;)

My computer imported these pics weird so they look sliced, but I'm too lazy to redo them! Sorry.

Look how cute it is wrapped!

Notice my name and it is number too

 Yay!! My personalized message!

The Book- it is the 4th in the series.  If you are interested in reading them, the 1st book is called 'Covet'.

I seriously did a happy dance when this package came and took pics every step of the unwrapping (obviously) I think Chris thinks I am a lunatic haha!  I LOVE reading!!!

Glitter Pumpkin Tutorial

I know, I know, I know, I have been slacking in the blogging dept.  But did you guys miss me?  I hope someone noticed I have been gone for three months. ha ha!  Well I am back.  I can't say how consistent I will be, but if I have something to blog about- I promise I will do it!

In the meantime I have been doing a lot of Zumba, reading, playing with family and friends and I went on a mini-vaca with my high school girlfriends!! It has been a great 3 months.  I hope to share some of it with you soon :)

Well let's get to the point here... This week I hosted book club and had some of my besties over and we made glitter pumpkins. Everyone had such a good time and loved the pumpkins.  The ladies suggested that I post a tutorial on my blog.  It was a great idea, especially since I posted pics of them on Facebook and Instagram and everyone has been asking how to make them.  So here you go friends!!

Here are the supplies you will need.

  • a pumpkin
  • spray adhesive
  • fine glitter ( I prefer Martha Stewart brand)
  • metallic spray paint (optional)
  • clear outdoor weather coating spray (optional)

Get your pumpkin and place it on a bag or newspaper and start spraying the metallic or metal finish spray paint all over the pumpkin.  This evens out the color of the pumpkin, then you don't have to worry about your glitter being perfect ;)

Look how awesome this looks.  Last year I just kept some of my pumpkins spray painted without glitter and they looked great!  If you like this look then stop here!

On the same bag that you used to spray the spray paint, spray the adhesive all over your pumpkin.  Now be ready to switch to a different bag or paper surface for the glitter immediately after.  Because if you glitter on this bag, all your excess glitter will stick to the bag and you can't reuse it (see, I'm always thinking ha ha)

Put the pumpkin on another bag, preferably a flat one so that it is easier to put the glitter back in the jar and just dump that glitter all over the sucker.  Be quick so the adhesive doesn't dry.  Also if you want you can just glitter the top of the pumpkin-- ombre style.

Then I spray painted the stem with the metallic color {after all the adhesive and glittering and moving it around so I don't have to grab the stem anymore ;) }  If you want here is where you can spray the weather coating clear spray.  I didn't use it last year and mine held up great but you may want to just for good measure.

Then you are DONE ya'll!!!  Super easy huh?? It takes like 10 minutes tops!

Here is mine that I just made (in the middle) along with Lola's on the right and the one I made at book club on the left.

I used the copper and orangey glitter on this one to give it a richer color.

Here they are on my porch.  I love them and they lasted for Fall, Halloween and Thanksgiving decorating.  I was really sad when I had to chuck them last year when it was time to decorated for Christmas, because they were still in great condition.  They are the perfect pumpkin in my book!

I hope you have fun making your own!  Let me know if you have any questions!
