Owen's Birth Announcement

I realized that I forgot to post this after I first mentioned it.  I must thank my aunt Heather for designing this for me.  I told her what I wanted and she made it perfect on the first try... how would it be, to be that talented!?

First Day After Maternity Leave

It is my first day back at work and all is going well. I was anxious last night and couldn’t sleep, I don’t think I fell asleep until after 1am (oh boy). However Owen boy gave me a present and slept 7 ½ hours straight! So I didn’t have to wake up in the night and feed him.

Everyone at work has been very sweet and has gone out of their way to tell me that they are glad that I am back. They even got me cupcakes. I work with some great people and I work for a great company. It would have been a lot harder to come back if I didn’t have so many awesome friends at work.  I was worried about pumping but I was able to pump over 15 oz of milk today at work and that makes me feel great!  I drank around 87 oz of water and herbal tea today so as long as I keep that up I should be fine in that dept.

The drop off at the babysitter went well too. We bought Lola a ‘Ni Hao Kai Lan’ back pack that she could put some treasures and things in to take to the babysitters and she has been really excited about it! She did great and didn’t cry or fuss. Owen did well too; he was asleep so that made it easier. I decided I was going to have a good attitude and not be sad when I dropped them off because it would make it easier on all of us. I didn’t even cry. (I might have a little bit last night after everyone was asleep…but not a lot)

My friend Alysha is watching them and has been so sweet about listening to all my requests for them and letting me go through my list of things that she needed to know. She has been sensitive to the fact that it is hard to leave your babies and go back to work. She had to do it herself for a while.

All in all this time around has been much easier and I can’t wait to get home to my babies! They are so sweet and Alysha told me that both of them together are easier than her daughter by herself ha ha. I must say that I have been blessed with sweet, laid-back children.

It will be nice to get back into the swing of things but I will definitely miss being home all day with my babies. I am glad that I still have 4 full days home with them and I know I am lucky for that.

Here are a couple of pictures, for good measure. This was them yesterday, in my bed mind you.

Life On Maternity Leave

Wow, blogging is harder to do when you are home with the kiddos and aren't in front of a computer all day...  I am going to try to keep up on things as much as possible.  But I'm not making any promises ;)  Things are going great!  Owen is such a good baby.  He is so mild mannered and easy to love.  He hardly ever cries, he eats well, he is working on sleeping for longer periods through the night but I can't complain about him waking every 3 hours.  It could be worse.  I was spoiled with Lola, she only woke every 4 to 5 hours to eat.  But she was extra large as well ha ha

So here are some pics of the babe.  I have some of Lou but they are on my sisters camera so I will post them soon too.  She is a very good big sister, but she is very intense so we have to keep an eye on her and make sure that she is soft with the baby.  She seems to be adjusting well but she has had a few accidents and we are wondering if it has something to do with Owen, but they are few and far between so overall I think things are going well.  I make sure to give her attention and play with her when Owen is napping or I wear him in my Sleepy Wrap so I can play with her and do things for her.  I think I am going to love my baby carriers and am so glad that I got them!!

I was lucky enough to have Chris take a week off work and my mom came up for a couple of days as well.  So today is my first day alone with the kids and it is going well. We are all dressed and fed and happy.  I even managed some cleaning and putting away some Christmas stuff {yes, mine is still up, that is what happens when you have a kid a few days after Christmas}  I have decided I will have to give myself some goals or some sort of a schedule so I don't go stir crazy.  But the nice thing is, if I don't feel like I want to do my list I don't really have to and I am ok with taking it easy on myself because this is the time I have to be home with my babies and not have to work so I should enjoy every moment that I can!  I am hoping that someday I can stay home or at least be home more and only work a day or 2 a week.  But I really can't complain about 3 days a week and I feel blessed to have the job that I do!

My Lovees

He likes to wear big boy clothes

There are a couple great things about this pic... first, look how long those feet are and second, look at the pee trail on the right of him.  He is a sneaky guy and LOVES to pee when his diapee is off.

My babies love to sleep with their arms up by their heads.

My mom helped me get my cute wall hangings up while she was here.  I bought these illustrations at the Bijou Market.

My favorite thing of Owen's, his mustache booties!  Made by Meghan of Pleasantly Plump Knits, she is the sweetest gal too!

Owen sporting his cute booties!

My lil bro Ryker took some cute pics while we were at my parents this weekend.

I caught her off guard.

Owen Maximus Perry

Born: December 30th, 2010 at 9:38 PM

Weight: 8 lbs 15 oz {little guy}

Height: 21 inches

He spent the first night in the NICU because his oxygen levels were too low.  Man was I ready to see my baby early that next morning when I FINALLY got to hold him.  He came out at about 6 am and has been great since then and is the picture of health.  Thank goodness!

We feel so blessed and couldn't love him more!!  I forgot how little newborns are!  We are trying to get him on a schedule so I can get some sleep.  But he is a very good baby and has a sweet, mild temperament.  Thanks for your well wishes and support thus far.  You are great!

He had to use on of Lola's old blankets when he peed through all of his.  Wow, can you say leaks?!  I must be doing something wrong, he leaks through almost every diaper...

GO HERE TO SEE THE PICS THEY TOOK IN THE HOSPITAL.

38 Week Update *Last One*

Well the Dr is having me go in tomorrow night to have this baby... if all goes well, there should be a new baby Perry here by 8pm tomorrow!!!  I am so excited to meet him, it is very surreal for me.  I keep trying to imagine what it will be like with him here and I get so happy but a little nervous at the same time.  Change is always something you have to adjust to and fit your new life around.  I know it will be great!  Lola said the cutest thing I have ever heard yesterday.  I took her to my OB appt with me {no pelvics since I'm a c section mama, ya!} and the Dr was asking about her new little brother and she told him that the baby's name is Owen and after the Dr walked out she said, "I am so excited to see baby Owen!".  My heart melted when I heard my sweet little baby say that.  I know that seeing them together will be the best thing in the world.

I only hope I can be as sweet and patient and loving as I want to be to my children.  I have overwhelming amounts of love for my children and I know that will be what helps me through the rough and tough, adjusting times.  I have been very sentimental and lovey toward Lola lately.  I am realizing more now that she won't be the only one anymore and it makes me a little sad.  Her whole world is about to be flipped upside down and I pray that the adjustment will be easy on her.  I know she will love Owen so much and will be such a great helper to me and her dad.  She is already so strong willed and mature beyond her age.  She reminds me of myself- I have always been a helper to my mom and a second mom to my siblings, mostly the boys.  I was always excited to have children and have never had a worry in my head about being able to care for them.  That is something my mom taught me very well.  She is an amazing example to me.  I hope I can be like her.

Anyway, there are some of the thoughts that have been rolling around in my head this last week.  I have done a lot of contemplating; this is such a special time.  So here I am at 38 weeks, ready to burst with this almost
9 lb baby.

P.S.  If you want to guess a length and weight, please do so!! Just leave your guesses in the comments and we can see who is the closest. :)

Remembering...

With Owen coming so soon it makes me think back on when Lola was born.  What an amazing and life-changing day that was.  I look at the photos and old blog posts and can't stop smiling.  It warms my heart and soul to think about how much love we had and have for our sweet baby girl.  The fact that we get to experience that again and bring this baby boy into the world just blows me away.  Being a parent really is the best gift you could be given.  I will stop babbling but here is the link to Lola's birth post, what a beauty!!

I hope you all have a magical Christmas and spend it with the people you love.  We are headed to my parents tonight, {thanks UDOT for the freeway closure tonight!} let's hope Chris and I make it in one piece.  Lola is already at their house, having a blast!

37 Week Update

We have reached full-term!!  YAY!!!  This boy is growing like a weed.  I went in Monday and he was measuring in the mid 8 lb range.  The Dr said we may luck out and he will be smaller than Lola, but we are delivering a little earlier than we did with her, so that is probably the only reason why, if he is smaller ;)  The Dr said he will probably have me go into the hospital next Thursday night the 30th!  We will formulate our final plan at my appt next Tuesday.  We are getting so excited and ready for him to come.  I have to keep reminding myself to just relax and have fun this week, you know with Christmas and all.  But my countdown all year has been to when Owen is born.  I can't believe Christmas is just a few days away.  We are all very excited!  Lola will understand more this year and is so excited for Santa to come!!!

Apparently I am getting too big for my maternity shirts... to bad that at this point I don't care!  The world is lucky that I don't wear my Muumuu everywhere... that I save for home, Chris LOVES it!

Sorry about no Music Monday... if anyone noticed.  This week has been nuts!

36 Week Update

I went to the Dr. Monday night and here is what is happening with Owen.  He now weighs around 8 lbs 1 oz and is very crowded in my womb.  The Dr keeps saying, "You are all baby".  He asks me every time how big Lola was and this time asked how tall I am because he wants to know if the ultrasound is accurate.  I assure him it is and that I am literally anticipating a 10 lb baby.  We are still going back and forth with the date of the C-section.  The Dr. said at my next appt on Monday he should let me know when we will do it, so for now it is a waiting game.  But I can't complain, because the baby will be scheduled regardless and I don't have to wait around for when my body decides to go into labor like most ladies.  I would go crazy waiting, you ladies are awesome, not to mention the fact that I don't even know what a REAL contraction feels like and am scared of real child birth.  I am sure I would do fine, it must be the fear of the unknown ;)

Here I am at 36 weeks!  The belly is getting large!

Baby Showers Galore!

I have been very blessed to have 2 baby showers so far.  I am so appreciative!  You don't realize all the things you need to buy when you have a baby of the opposite sex.  So these showers have helped take the stress off of buying loads of baby supplies during the holidays. Thanks to everyone's kindness and generosity toward my family and I.

The first shower was given by my friend Alysha, it was on December 9th.  She lives in my neighborhood and has been fun to get to know and go on walks with in the evenings this last summer and fall.  I am hoping I can still do the walks with the two kids when the weather warms up a bit...I can do it! haha  Alysha did a dessert bar and drinks,  my mother in law, Jeanette, and Brit helped with food as well.  So thanks to everyone!

Me and my mother in law, Betsy

 Shannon, Vicki, and Ashley

Brit and Sienna (Kim's daughter, isn't she adorable?!)

I was a slacker and didn't get pics of Kim and Betty :(
Thanks to everyone for coming and especially to these last ladies for driving up from Utah County.  I love you guys so much!

Then last night my sweet high school friends Ashley and Leslie threw me a shower down in Utah County.  As I was walking out the door I realized we didn't take a single picture.  :(  But people were in and out fairly quickly and so I decided it would've been hard to get a good group pic anyway.  They made some delicious soups, rolls and cupcakes and had cute party favors with hand sanitizer in them.  You know I will need tons of that after Owen is here.  Thanks ladies!!  Also it was so funny, we all ended up bringing our kids with us to the shower, so between all of us there we had 8 kids and babies.  We were missing a few ladies that couldn't make it so there could have been more but we are really popping them out HA HA

I have one last family shower that my aunt is throwing for my cousin and I, since we are due 4 weeks apart, and that is next week.  I am excited.  Then it is Christmas time and baby time!!!

34 Week Update

I hope you guys aren't getting sick of these, they are great for journaling but may be boring for you guys.  Bear with me, we are almost done!

I went to the Dr yesterday and things are going great.  He said the baby is measuring around 7 LBS or so.... it surprised my Dr but not me, I know how we grow 'em.  He said he is healthy and strong and he took a pee pee pic for me... not sure why. ha ha  I guess since you can't get good face pics when they are this far along that is what I have to settle for.  I was giggling about that one.  But we are reassured, yet again, that Owen is indeed a boy!

My Dr has decided to stop delivering babies at the end of this year and go back to normal gyno stuff and reconstructive surgery for varicose veins.  I am so sad to hear this but was very glad to know that he will for sure be performing or at least assisting on my C-section.  The baby is so huge that he is thinking we may be able to bring this baby into the world on December 31st and make his "no more delivering babies" deadline.  I would be his very last delivery. :(  I am anxious about getting a new OB for baby #3 (whenever that may be) but I know he will leave all of his patients in trusted hands and there is always the option of the other great Dr's that are already at the practice.

Anyway, I am getting so excited for Owen to get here and can't wait to meet him and see what he looks like and kiss his squishy baby cheeks and dress him in all the cute clothes my mom and I have been collecting.

One of my good friends at work had her baby today and I am so excited to meet him.  He was 9 LBS 5 OZ so we will have to see if Owen beats that... I have a feeling he will since Lola was bigger than that.  But only time will tell.  I am very jealous that she got to meet her little guy already.  I think it would be so fun to have a new baby for Christmas!

Here are the 34 week pics, they are back in the bathroom because, like I said, my friend at work just had her baby so she won't be here for for a couple months or so while on maternity leave.  You lucky peeps get "lactation station" pics until the baby is here muah ha ha

31 weeks

My "photographer" at work left early today so it was self-photo time!  Sorry.  Here I am during my 31st week of pregnancy.  Only 8 weeks left, we are planning on a scheduled c-section on January 5th.  That could change but is the plan as of now.

This face says, "wow, I am getting big!"

Breech and Beautiful

Baby update- I saw a different Dr. on Monday night because my Dr. had an hour wait and this guy was silly.  At the beginning of the appt was trying to tell me that I need to have a VBAC or at least seriously consider it and I told him obviously it was something I was looking into.  But after doing the ultrasound and seeing that Owen too is BREECH and is already 4lbs 2oz, {which means he is measuring at 34 weeks 3 days and I was 30 weeks 6 days at the time} the Dr said, "Maybe I take back what I said before". ha ha  I thought that was so funny.  He kept saying things about how Owen's femur is huge and that he is such a big baby.  He then proceeded to ask me my shoe size and height and decided that I could probably handle having a huge baby like that. {thanks doc}  I told him that Lola was 9 LBS 12 OZ and was 8 days early and he was dying.  {I love the big babies though, it's always like telling a fishing story when I tell people how big Lola was- something to be proud of!  I can't wait to have another big, squishy, yummy baby.}  It was an entertaining appointment to say the least and let's not talk about how much weight I gained in the last month.  Let's hope that was a fluke... I will try to start walking more and eating less treats to prevent that from happening again. Oops.

All day long I have had this song in my head and I can't say I mind it one bit.  It makes me feel so happy and peaceful... and maybe a little sleepy.  Is it 5pm yet?

24 Weeks

I am trying to be better about taking belly pics now that I am growing faster.  I also told myself I would try to dress in the style I normally do so I feel cute and not frumpy, whilst pregnant.  The pictures hold me accountable.  I may not have the option of cute once I get to 35 weeks or so ha ha!  But I will try not to wear a muumuu and mens slippers this time. {It wasn't that bad but I really was so swollen that I wore men's slippers and flip flops for the last couple months of my pregnancy...}  Anywho, here is me at 24 weeks.

4D UltraWOW

Yesterday I was able to have my 4d targeted ultrasound.  It is the ultrasound where they check all the organs, bone lengths, brain, etc. for the baby.  I was very excited!  Until now we haven't been able to get a good side profile, baby Owen had not been cooperating at all.  So I was hoping this time would be a success.  It was so fun to watch him swimming around in there and punching me- yes apparently most of the bumps and jumps I feel in there are from him punching me.  I was laughing so hard when I saw his little arms punching like he was a lil fetus boxer.  His legs were up by his head the entire time and his arms were for most of the time as well.  I was getting worried that we wouldn't be able to get a good face shot.  But at the end the ultrasound tech decided that she would do some tappety taps and maneuver that guy so we could get a clear view.  I told her to, "Show him who's boss" and that is what she did.  We got some amazing shots and I got a little teary, it being the first time I had seen his face and all.  What an amazing thing it is to be able to peek inside there and see our little man before he comes out.  I am glad to report that he is healthy and strong and growing fast!  He now weighs 1 LB 7 OZ and is measuring about a week big.  We can't wait to meet this little guy!

Same situation except he is grabbing his foot :)  You can see his little knee on the left.

From these pictures we have decided that he looks like his sister and we couldn't be more excited!

Then there's me, I am 23 weeks now and I have finally started to pop.  Check out that bump :)  I am feeling great and am no longer nauseous.  Now I will enjoy the time until I am huge, achy and uncomfortable... let's pray that I don't get as swollen as last time... so far so good. {knock on wood}

Sorry about the self portraits, it is hard to find a time where I am looking ok and there is someone around to take it... maybe I should train Lola how to take a picture ha ha
