Guess Who Comes Home Tomorrow?

You guessed it Elder Rhettster Petster Poo Poo!! I am sure he still LOVES that nick name! We are so excited to give him loves and catch up on the last 2 years. This will be his first time meeting Lola! We had just found out we were pregnant when he left, so he was sad he would be missing her birth and the baby-baby phase. But at least now she can say funny things and give him hugs and kisses. We show her his picture on our fridge and say,"I love you Tio {uncle in Spanish} Rhett". He has been serving a mission in Mexico for our church.

Many fun times to be had this weekend!! Also Chris and I are going to celebrate our Anniversary coming up next Tuesday!! 3 years baby!

Shoppe Update Coming Today

I have been working on a bunch of new headbands and I am just about to put a couple up in the shoppe today. There will be more added soon, hopefully by the end of the week. Here is a sneak peek at the 2 I will be adding today!

A Tradition Passed On

When I was small I remember my aunt Julee reading me the Maurice Sendak, Nutshell Library Books. I LOVED them and I would always ask her read them to me.... "eating chicken soup with rice", I would say along as she read to me.

When I was pregnant with Lola, I knew that was something I wanted to share with her as well. I purchased the little book set and placed it lovingly in her closet to wait until I could read them to her.
Well, I pulled them out last night and got through half a book when she jumped off the bed and started playing... I kept reading, then she wanted to hold one, so I took the paper cover off and handed it to her, she was loving it until she ripped a page... I ran over and grabbed it from her grubby but cute little paws and luckily it was only a blank page in the back of the book. Needless to say, it was too early to pull these little gems out. I put them back on the closet shelf to wait until she is older and understands how to NOT rip the pages out. :)

I love her bed head in this picture and how I asked her to say "hi" and she went, "ROAR!". She is such a character!

Baking with Lola

This weekend Chris went and saw a Sundance film in Ogden with some friends, so Lola and I made a night of it. We....
  • went to the grocery store and Lola "drove" the Car Cart and snacked on fruit snacks {grocery shopping is risky with a toddler!}
  • Made some cheesy, potato, veggie soup {I cheated with the Bear Creek package and added fresh veggies :) }
  • I watched some LOST while Lola played, then we watched Sesame Street.
  • I had an urge to make cookies once I saw this blog post, so I made Snicker Doodles {with great recipe from the before mentioned blog}. It was my first time and they were delicious. I am still enjoying the fruits of my labor, with a big cup of milk!
  • Then it was time for her bottle and bedtime

Here is some photographic evidence that I once again have begun cooking!! {Also I am back to 3 days a week, instead of 4, which I have been working for the past 2 months. Still 10 hour shifts but I am used to it! Lola and my house will be grateful!!}

Lola throwing Cooper's dog food on the floor so he would eat it

Caught with her hand in the cookie jar aka bag of dog foodMy apron and Lola trying to pull it off of me... yes we have matching aprons thanks to Anna!
Ok you win, you can wear both at once ha ha

I love my girlie and our nights that we spend together!

Music Monday- Bon Iver

This song is so relaxing to me, love BON IVER!

Keepin' It Real

I feel like I haven't talked about life and what not lately.

Today I am feeling blah, here is why:
  • My house is not as clean as it should be

  • I am bloated with a side of cramps

  • I realized the shirt I wore to work has a stain on it, thank goodness I wore a hoodie so I can cover it up {bloated=wearing a hoodie}

  • I am losing steam on my headband motivation... I need some inspiration. {I have been thinking zippers for a while, among other things but have I done anything about it yet... no}

  • I realized Lola needed a bath last night, while I was at work today...guess it will wait until tonight.

  • I need to plan my sharing time for Sunday and I am sick of sharing time, I have been doing them all month long.

  • Bills in general

But I am still in a pretty good mood and here is why:

  • Bone Thugs N Harmony- Tha Crossroads, just came on my Itunes! ha
  • Book Club was awesome last night! We read "The Luxe" by Anna Godberson, it was a fun book and I started the 2nd one last night when I got home. I have some great friends!

  • I am not way behind on laundry like usual {I'm just a little behind}

  • I don't have anything planned tonight except for hanging out with Chris and Lola.

  • I am eating peanut butter M&M's, perfect for a that-time-of-the-month snack!

  • I only work 9 hrs today vs. 10

  • I have a warm house to go home to with a cute family and doggie who love me.

  • Getting cute updates from Lola's new babysitter. Her daughter LOVES Lola! {Yep, we are on babysitter #3 now... that is a whole different post}

Sometimes we can be too hard on ourselves. We expect to be perfect... look perfect, have a perfectly clean house, always be organized.

GUESS WHAT!?

We are all human and we are REAL and we live in a mess sometimes, we don't cook every night, we get behind on laundry and planning lessons, we wear a dirty-ish shirt to work, we almost hit a pedestrian while while trying to stop but are sliding on the snow {yes this happened this morning, good news... didn't hit the pedestrian}

But we can still look at our lives and be thankful for all of our blessings. Because even when things aren't perfect, things can still be good! That is why I am blah and I may not be in the best mood but I am not down and out :)

My answer to the burning question

We didn't get as much input on this weeks question... Hopefully we can get some more people to contribute, otherwise I will take that as a sign that this is boring and no one cares... ha ha

In Vitro?

I think it is such a blessing for those who can not get pregnant on their own. There are many people who have issues conceiving and if this technology were not available, there would be a lot of people who would never be able to have children. Of course there is adoption, which is so great but I am sure it would be hard to not at least have the opportunity to create children from your own flesh and blood. No, it is not playing God and no, I don't think that if you are unable to conceive, on your own, that you are not intended to have children. {There are some horrible parents out there who have WAY too many kids. If that were the case, all those parents would be the one's stricken with infertility... in my humble opinion} Thank the Lord for these great scientific advancements that better our lives everyday!
Thanks for the ideas for questions and the comments on this topic as well.... till the next time!

Music Monday- Fleet Foxes

This one is for Chris. We both like this band a lot but he started listening to the album again and has been obsessed with them for the last little while. FLEET FOXES!!!!! These are both from the self-titled album that came out in 2008.

My pick- "He Doesn't Know Why"

Chris's pick- "Oliver James"

Haiti is in our hearts and our prayers

I couldn't help but cry while reading about the devastation in Haiti from the magnitude 7 earthquake that hit Tuesday evening. They are now estimating over 500,000 dead. Someone posted a link on their blog to the Humanitarian Aid Donation page for the LDS church, 100% of the proceeds go directly to Humanitarian aid. Definitely a trustworthy source for donating your money. I know every penny will help, I wish I could physically go and help but that is sadly, not an option for me. So giving money is a small way that I can feel like I helped. If you feel strongly about helping as well, please click HERE to go the website and donate as little or as much as you can.
If you can't contribute financially, please pray for all the people who are affected by this catastrophic event.

To read more about the quake click HERE.
There are more opportunities to donate HERE.

Burning Question #3

I had a few suggestions and they were all great so I was having a hard time deciding!! I thought I would go with the first suggestion and move on from there. Here it is:

"I would LOVE to hear what people think about in vitro. Is it playing God? Is it appropriate? How do people feel about it?"

So there you have it. What are your opinions? Remember, be honest and frank, we are all big kids right? If this is your first time reading this blog, welcome and join in!!

Here are some pics I took over the last week for you to enjoy!
Lola eating cheese at Papa and Granny's. I had just got home from work and she was excited!!

Lola and I took a trip to American Apparel on Friday and she picked out the adorable hoodie that she is wearing!

Not long after she had a meltdown, it was nap time and who loves being in a car seat? Luckily I was equipped with McDonalds fries. So I just passed a couple back, don't judge me ha ha

I bought these fabulous shoes this weekend and I have been loving them. They are great with skirts/dresses or cute skinny jeans. I am not used to wearing heels lately so my puppies were barking after wearing them. Pain=beauty, sometimes.

Last, here is Lola enjoying the new house that Granny and Papa gave her for Christmas. I always wanted one of those! She is too spoiled.

Suggestions

I think it is time for another "Burning Question". Please give me any suggestions you may have.
Are you wondering how other people feel on a topic {controversial or not, silly or serious} share
it and let's find out!! If you don't want everyone to see that you are the one who asked the
question, email me at darilperry {at} gmail {dot} com.

Thanks in advance!

Lyrics

You all know I love music, that much is obvious. I used to be obsessed with lyrics when I was younger and if the lyrics didn't hold some sort of emotion or meaning to me, I could discard a song. I have since evolved a bit and I love the musicality side of things as well as the lyrics. But every now and then I still run into a song that just moves me. Here are a couple that I wanted to share. The first one I have been wanting to post on here for months, now I am finally getting around to it.

Regina Spektor- Laughing With

I seriously have to try not to get teary every time I listen to it. I love it. I showed it to my mom thinking she would think, Wow, that is a really great song and in your face, non-believers. But I think she thought it was silly... :( Anyway, hopefully this will touch someone else as well.

No one laughs at God in a hospital
No one laughs at God in a war
No one’s laughing at God
When they’re starving or freezing or so very poor

No one laughs at God
When the doctor calls after some routine tests
No one’s laughing at God
When it’s gotten real late And their kid’s not back from the party yet

No one laughs at God
When their airplane start to uncontrollably shake
No one’s laughing at God
When they see the one they love, hand in hand with someone else
And they hope that they’re mistaken

No one laughs at God
When the cops knock on their door
And they say we got some bad news, sir
No one’s laughing at God
When there’s a famine or fire or flood

*Chorus*
But God can be funny
At a cocktail party when listening to a good God-themed joke,
Or when the crazies say He hates us
And they get so red in the head you think they’re ‘bout to choke
God can be funny,
When told he’ll give you money if you just pray the right way
And when presented like a genie who does magic like Houdini
Or grants wishes like Jiminy Cricket and Santa Claus
God can be so hilarious
Ha ha Ha ha

No one laughs at God in a hospital
No one laughs at God in a war
No one’s laughing at God
When they’ve lost all they’ve got And they don’t know what for

No one laughs at God on the day they realize
That the last sight they’ll ever see is a pair of hateful eyes
No one’s laughing at God when they’re saying their goodbyes

But God can be funny
At a cocktail party when listening to a good God-themed joke,
Or when the crazies say He hates us
And they get so red in the head you think they’re ‘bout to choke
God can be funny, When told he’ll give you money if you just pray the right way
And when presented like a genie who does magic like Houdini
Or grants wishes like Jiminy Cricket and Santa Claus
God can be so hilarious

No one laughs at God in a hospital
No one laughs at God in a war

No one laughs at God in a hospital
No one laughs at God in a war

No one laughing at God in hospital
No one’s laughing at God in a war

No one’s laughing at God when they’re starving or freezing or so very poor

No one’s laughing at God
No one’s laughing at God
No one’s laughing at God

We’re all laughing with God

BONUS- Here is the actual song!

Here is one more for today....

Gracie by Ben Folds. I just thought of Chris and Lola when I heard this and it made me a little teary as well. {are you seeing a theme here?} I bet most parents feel this way.

You can't fool me, I saw you when you came out
You got your momma's taste but you got my mouth
And you will always have a part of me
Nobody else is ever going to see
Gracie girl

With your cards to your chest walking on your toes
What you got in the box only Gracie knows
And I would never try to make you be
Anything you didn't really want to be
Gracie girl

Life flies by in seconds
You're not a baby Gracie, you're my friend
You'll be a lady soon but until then
You gotta do what I say
You nodded off in my arms watching TV
I won't move you an inch even thought my arm's asleep
One day you're gonna want to go
I hope we taught you everything you need to know
Gracie girl

And you will always have a part of me
Nobody else is ever gonna see but you and me
my little girl
My Gracie girl

Sorry this isn't great quality, it is someones cell phone recording or something. But there is no "official video" and all the other ones were people's actual kids that they made videos of... I am not posting a stranger's kid on here ha

So it's t w e n t y t e n

Sorry I have been a bad blogger, between the holidays and our little family getting the flu, things have been a little out of sorts. But we are all healthy and back in action! I will start up the Music Mondays again next week. Here are some pics and random thoughts.

Last week my great friend Jeanette sent me the pics from a Christmas Pot Luck that her and her hubby Jesse threw. It was such a fun night! Thanks for having all of us over!!

Adam and M'Liss too cute!

Us and Jason, M'Liss's hubby
Sindee and Blake

The hosts- J'nut and Jesse James {note Jeanette's headband, a Daris Day original!}

Lola and Elmo

Last night Chris and I were able to go on a much needed mini-date to see "Sherlock Holmes", it was a great movie and I suggest it if you are looking for a good flick to see. {I think one of my New Years Goals is to go on more dates with Chris. I would like to aim for once a week but know that is nearly impossible, so I will say every other week.} We even got a huge popcorn and diet coke to share then after we went to Del Taco to get some chow and I got a chicken soft taco {love those!}... like a naughty college student who eats after 10 pm. It was fun! But I better not get in a habit of doing that or I will be a chubster!

In other news, I am not a resolution person. I never make any and I am almost anti-resolutions, seriously, who makes and keeps them? Most of them are made in vain and give people unnecessary stress and some what unachievable expectations. But I do feel like setting some goals for yourself is important. They can be made and adjusted at anytime to meet your needs. I have decided to set some achievable goals and or to do's for this year, in no particular order.
  • Go on more dates with Chris {like mentioned above}
  • Make home organization a priority, so I am less stressed
  • Start making headbands for FUN again
  • Go on a vacation {haven't been on one since the honeymoon, that's almost 3 yrs now...}
  • Read my scriptures and say my prayers daily
  • Get good at using my new sewing machine
  • Always be sweet and kind around Lola so she will be sweet to others {she is getting an attitude, but I think she was born with that!}
  • Get Lola potty trained {a few months down the road, it will be sooner than I know!}
  • Lose some weight, let's talk portion control and less sugar, nothing crazy!
  • Meet Chris's Mahmah- she lives in Ohio and I have never met her I.R.L.
  • Do some remodeling projects in the house {a lot of DIY stuff!}
  • Finally make our yard cute {mostly the back...who sees it anyway?}

I am sure there are so many more, but that is all for now... let's not get overwhelmed ;)
