Christmas Time!!

We had a splendiferous Christmas!!!

Christmas Eve we had a family party with the Gordon's, which was great as always! Then we spent the night at my parents and had Christmas morning with them and talked with my little bro Rhett who is on his mission in Mexico. He will be home in a month!!!! We are soo excited. Then we headed to Chris's parents, had Christmas morning again and spent the rest of Christmas with them. We were very spoiled this year and I am not sure that we deserved it.... But we are very blessed and appreciate everyone around us that was so generous.

I got a sewing machine from my parents and am so excited to get going on some projects. I also got some household items, clothes and gift cards for clothes!! Chris even got me the first 5 seasons of "Saved By The Bell", if anyone wants to have a marathon, give me a call!!

Chris got an external hard drive, new Tom's, clothes and lots of DVD's. We got Beatles Rockband together and a new flat screen LCD TV for out bedroom so we can mount it on the wall, so Lou won't get smashed if she ever decides to go climbing. It was a complete surprise and I do believe I shed a couple tears when I saw it!!!

Lou got so many clothes and toys that I don't know what to do with them and I am not sure she knows either :) Her grandparents sure do spoil her, but its hard not to!

Here are some pics from our weekend. I wish Christmas could have lasted longer!!!

Music Monday- Dirty Projectors

This week is a fun one, love them!! Here is a little gem for you. If you want more info go HERE to get to their myface page or whatever the heck it is.... ha ha I give you
DIRTY PROJECTORS!!

"Stillness Is The Move" from the album "Bitte Orca" released in June of this year.

Now that it is back to real life...

I promise I will post some Christmas pictures soon. All the photos are on my parents camera, so I have to wait to get them. I will do a big Christmas post then!!
Lou in her Christmas dress
For now, here is Lola being cute, on our way to my mom's for the Boxing Day party with the Braithwaite's. She didn't take a nap this day, so she was more ornery than cute once the evening came around ha ha Who am I kidding, she is cute even when she is tired and being a meanie.

Also, I cut my hair!! It was about dang time. The tail is gone and I have the bangs again. I am loving it so far!!! Thanks Chelsea!! She does a great job and works at Mark Anthony in Springville, if you go see her, tell her I sent you :)

This weekend I was lucky enough to get together briefly with some of my Payson friends. Brooke was in town from New York for the holiday so we got together for lunch... well we intended to but I forgot, so I missed the lunch part of things. OOPS! It was a busy weekend, what can I say. Oh and we didn't take any pics, good huh? But I was happy to get together with you ladies even if it was only for a short period of time :)

I am not very happy that Christmas came and went so fast. I was a little down about being back to work Monday and it took me about half of the day to be able to find my groove and quit being bitter about not having this whole week off.... but I think I am OK now and am trying to keep myself busy so I don't have time to be sad.
Last little thought, I have heard this saying a lot lately and it bugs the crap out of me for some reason. I don't know why, I don't get mad if people say it but I believe it is a new pet peeve of mine. "EASY PEASY". Where did that saying come from and why are "they" using it in advertisements? Yes, I heard someone use that saying in a radio advertisement. Is that even a real word, peasy? I mean no offense to anyone that uses it. But it is like nails on a chalkboard to me.
Do you guys use it? Do you hate it like I do or do you love it and think it is cute? Just curious.

I know this is blurry, but check Lola out in her long-johns and that pose, she is a ham!

Well back to work but I will try to pump out a Music Monday, if I get time! Have a great week!!

Music Monday- The Bird and The Bee

Here is another Christmas edition. I really enjoy these guys regularly and then I heard their rendition of "Carol of the Bells" and it was lovely! So here is one of my old Christmas fav's. A little side note... I used to listen to these guys A LOT while I was pregnant with Lola so when I listen to them now, I feel a little nauseous. Not all the time, but a lot of it. So it is bitter sweet to listen to them. Weird huh? Our bodies are some crazy things... Back to the task at hand. Here is a fun Christmas song. That's all.

There is a really funny video of theirs HERE as well.

My opinion to this week's question

I have had quite a few responses to this week's "Burning Question". THANK YOU! Please share if you have any questions that you would like to get opinions on. If you have any more thoughts on this or if this is your first time hearing about this week's question, please share!

My opinion started out one way and has changed a bit through my personal journey with having Lola. At first I would've been the first to say that elective C-sections are selfish and that doctors push them on people to keep a more "set schedule" {which some Dr's may do...}

I was planning on having Lola vaginally and with an epideral. I am not brave enough to do it natural. But I thought, if this one goes well and I know more about what is going on during birth, through experience, I may try it natural with the next one. Well things changed toward the end of my pregnancy. Lola was breech ever since half way through the pregnancy {or sooner, but she was probably so small that she switched to and fro earlier} We kept looking each new appt and every time she was still breech. When I got to be about 36 or 37 weeks along, the Dr. said if she is not turned at your next weekly appt, I am going to have you go to the hospital and get her turned, otherwise we will have to do a C-section to get her out safely.... I had researched turning and knew that some chiropractors were certified in turning methods and considered going to one in Ogden. I looked up "ways to get your baby to turn" on the internet and tried some of the ideas but she was where she wanted to be- with her head poking out right underneath the bottom of my ribs on the right side. Each week the Dr. would say let's see if she turned but I knew she hadn't because I could feel her head in the same spot.

So I went back the next week to the "turn or not to turn" appointment and she was still beech. I had a conversation with my doc where he told me he would recommend not turning the baby and having a C-section. He had brought it up before and I thought, "No, I don't want to have a C-section that was not 'my plan'" but over the last couple of weeks I thought, what if we try to turn her and it doesn't work or it forces me into labor early or worse... I spoke with my mom and many other people about the situation and I was surprised at how everyone's opinions toward C-sections were generally negative. I almost felt like some people would judge me if I ended up having a C-section. This is where my opinion started to change... the Dr. continued, telling me that turning a baby, when it is your first birth, generally doesn't work or they turn back, that she is really big and that could factor into her not turning or why she was in that position in the first place, and last he said she may be in that way for a reason. He said he now is recommending a C-section.

I decided to trust my Dr. and go for a C-section. I trusted him and knew that he would tell me what he honestly thought was best for Lola and I. {Side note- I hadn't dilated at all by the time I was 38+ weeks because she was breech so it looked like a vaginal delivery was not even on its way.} Fast forward to the day she was born- I had her 8 days early. I was laying on the table in the surgical room and out came Lola and the Dr. said "I am glad we decided on a C-section, the cord is wrapped around her a few times". It may have been divine intervention in my case, I am not sure. But I am very glad that I decided to trust my Dr. I have changed my opinion on C-sections and I am glad that option was available for Lola's safety and my own.

How I feel now is, birth is a very special and personal thing. I think if you are healthy and able to have a natural or vaginal birth, that is a great option and something I am fairly jealous that I didn't have. But if you choose to have a C-section, that is your choice as well. I am not going to lie, I still feel like it is a little selfish, basically because it is "benefiting" the mother but there are no apparent benefits for the baby, if the baby is healthy and strong and a C-section is not necessary. {see what I am saying?} But in no way would I judge someone for doing that, I am sure the fear of having a baby pop out your hoo hah is enough to scare some people to death and if having a major surgery is less scary, more power to you! If you choose to have a baby natural, good for you. But please don't judge others for using drugs, that is what makes them feel comfortable and is in their birth plan. One thing that bothers me are self righteous mom's. We all do what's best for our children and don't need another mother trying to tell us what to do.

What will I do for the next baby?
My recovery from my C-section was A PIECE OF CAKE!!!!!!!!!!! I cannot tell you how great it was. I heard horror stories from both kind of births, donuts and throbbing vags and not being able to walk and seepage from the other. But luckily I had none of the "horror story" symptoms and I was up and at 'em earlier than a lot of vaginal recoveries and had no restrictions past 4 weeks after birth. That is not how it is for everyone. Right now I am planning on having a C-section with the next baby. Simply because I am seriously worried about a uterus laceration {is that right?} I don't want my uterus to bust open before it is time to have the baby. But who knows, if my next pregnancy is smooth sailing and my Dr. says a VBAC is ok, I will seriously consider it. I would love to experience natural childbirth. But I will be scared simply because my last experience was very easy.

That was a lot longer than I expected and I hope I didn't offend anyone or bore you to death.... Thanks for listening and know that however you choose to do it is great with me!!!

Oh Holy Night

My good friend Scott's band was featured on 21st and Ivy. His band {one of them} is called "Night Night" and they are great! But the point of me telling you this is that there is a free download of their version of "Oh Holy Night" and man is it beautiful! Scott has one amazing voice! So click over and download it... what are you waiting for? Plus they just won the Winter Battle of the Bands, in good ole Provo, this last weekend! Congrats guys!

click here to go to the site

He also has a solo project which has some rotating additional members called "Book on Tapeworm". Which is, dare I say, even better than "Night Night". So if you get the opportunity to see either of these bands live, I suggest you take it! {sorry Rach, in advance}
P.S. IF YOU HAVEN'T ANSWERED THE "BURNING QUESTION" IN THE POST BELOW.... DO IT!! I WILL PUT MY 2 CENTS UP A LITTLE LATER TODAY OR TOMORROW...thanks for all your input so far!

Burning Question #2- C sections

I have decided that I want to start doing a feature about "burning questions" or "Hot topics". So I will need some help from you guys to make this work. Please comment with any opinions you have and let me know if you have ideas for questions too!! Even if I don't know you and you think it would be awkward... I promise it won't be!! I love everyone and would love to make some new bloggie friends!!! I will try to do a question lets say every other week. {we don't want to get sick of this right?}

This weeks question:

How do you feel about C-sections? Even further, elective C-sections or breech baby C-sections {or the things that go along with that, as in turning the baby}?

I know some people have very strong feelings one way or the other, so let those opinions fly. I will share mine when all you people are done :)

She's only 15 months? Why yes, yes she is.

Yesterday was Lola's late 15 month appt. and it was a fun time as usual. She fake cried when the nice Dr looked at her and then real cried when he actually touched her. She can be a drama queen, but she is very good at stranger danger :) She had to get a couple of immunizations but since her legs are getting skinnier {boo} her one thigh was sore this morning. Poor lady. She is healthy except for a little ear infection in her left ear, what's new?

Here are her stats:
  • Height- 33"
  • Weight- 28.11 lbs
  • 105% for both

At the appt, she was sporting her nakey look while waiting for the Dr.

OK this is not meant to be offensive in any way. But I think it is hilarious, my dad-in-law will always put bowls on Lola's head and talk to her in "Chinese" she LOVES it. Well Sunday he stepped it up a notch and gave her "the eyes" to go along with it. I couldn't decide whether to laugh or slap my dad-in-law. But I just laughed so hard that I almost cried. Lola thought it was a riot, despite her face in this picture. I love the Asians!! You can ask Sindee!

Last I leave you with Lola playing patty cake and peek a boo!

Music Monday- Sufjan Stevens

Since it is almost Christmas I thought I should highlight a couple Christmas songs. Sufjan is awesome, he can sing about weird, depressing, and morbid things and make them sound lovely. For example, the 2 songs below. I love the mood and emotion that he brings with his songs. It is beautiful and sad all at once. Don't get depressed... here is my Christmas pick for this week:

"That Was The Worst Christmas Ever"

For a few years, he made a Christmas album each year for the "Songs For Christmas" collection. Check them out HERE. They are "real" carols and Christmas songs, done in Sufjan's style.

Here is a bonus song for you, non-Christmas.

"John Wayne Gacy Jr."- "Illinois"

A great gift and weekend pics

This last weekend I got a fabulous surprise in the mail!!! My friend RACHEL sent me this package, with 3 adorable skirts for Lola and a great homemade, upcycled, Journal for me!!! Chris probably thought I was nuts, because I kept saying, "That is SOO nice, Rachel is SOOO cute! I owe her BIG TIME!" Rachel is so crafty, cute, smart, sassy and talented! She is always posting about great craft ideas on her blog, so you should check it out!!! Anyway, THANKS RACH, you and Lily are the cutest!!!

Here is Lola sporting some of her skirts, she looks too cute in them!

with her new clip that I made for her, it matched perfectly!

In her Christmas skirt, sorry about the blur, try getting a pic of the girl who NEVER holds still!

On Sunday Lola and I have a nice nap together after church and lunch. We were getting ready and Chris asked for a picture of Lola because he was at work. I told her "cheese" and this is what happened. I thought it was soo funny that I sent it to him anyway. Luckily a nap followed shortly after this "incident".

If you follow me on Twitter, you probably remember my tweet about this. The Christmas tree meatloaf. I laughed so hard when I saw it. I heard Chris mention this meal to his dad but never imagined it would actually be in the shape of a tree. I took it after the BBQ sauce was on, but you can see the pepper at the top of it that looks like a star. It was delish! I like meatloaf though...

While at Sunday dinner at my in law's, Lola found her new fav place to sit. It is similar to her fav spot at my Grandparent's house, mentioned in a previous post. She is so silly.
at Granny and Pawpaw's house

At my Grandparent's house

She loves to be in her onesy. I had just taken her clothes off to put pj's on and she climbed away, plopped down, pulled up the covers, and was relaxing, watching her new Elmo movie. She is turning into such a big girl and it is breaking my heart. Where has my lil baby gone? She is a toddler now.

This was her yesterday in her cute outfit. She looked like me in baby form. You know I love my cardigans! She is such a sweet, loving girl and is my BFF, next to Chris.

Last night her and I were laying in bed while she was falling asleep and I was rubbing her cheek and she reached over and softly rubbed my cheek too. She is learning so much and can make the cutest animal noises and is saying more words. She has recently started saying her own version of "I love you". I can't imagine life without this girl. She makes me happy to get home everyday after work and she makes Chris and I laugh and smile everyday. We are truly blessed!

If you have a baby...

...you will probably think this is funny. Luckily Lola never spit up but maybe 5 times, that I can think of.
This is awesome!

Weekend of Thanks

This weekend was seriously awesome!! I love my family so much!! We were able to go eat the big dinner with my family this year. We went to G &G Braithwaite and it was fun to chat with the family and play with the cousins. Brielle, Kien{sp?}, and Blye played with Lola for hours. They are the cutest kids and I am so sad that I didn't get a pic of them with her. Blye even wrote Lola a note that said "Lola, You are cute and cool. I love you. Love, Blye". Even though these kids are actually my cousin's and Lola's 2nd, it seems like they are her 1st too. Its confusing, my mom's family is huge. My aunts are still in their younger child-birthing years... yay for big sisters {pretty much}.
Lola kept climbing up and sitting on this ledge and she would pop her binky out, get off and pick it up and jump back on the ledge. Silly lady.

The next day we went to the University mall with my aunt Cheralyn and her family to see Santa come to the mall in "Chopper 5", we kept referring to "Chopper 5", we thought it was so funny for some reason. You can see Chase sitting on his dad's shoulders in this pic.

Lola kept pointing at the copter and getting excited but Nic had some issues with my phone's camera so she is pointing down in this one ha

Lola did not want Auntie Nic to hold her in this one, ha ha

Us with "CHOPPER 5"

While Nic and I were shopping in Forever 21, which takes forever because you get so overwhelmed... my mom took Lola and got her pics with SANTA. You can tell she was highly amused, yes I am being facetious.

Later that night I went and saw "Minus the Bear" and "As Tall As Lions", the show was phenomenal in my humble opinion. Our friends Jeff and Josh joined Chris and I and Josh's friend Jillian came as well. Afterward we went and chowed at Coachman's. I love that place!!

We stayed at my parents Saturday as well and watched the "Holy War" game... GO BYU!!!! I like both teams but I root for BYU when they play each other. Needless to say we were happy about the outcome! Especially my dad and bro's who are season ticket holders.
In other news:
Chris bought Lola this cute {and cheesy} advent calendar, so last night she got to eat a piece of chocolate!! She wanted to open more doors after she saw her prized treat.
I have been working on some headbands and bought the cutest Christmas material. So watch for a store update by the end of the week!! Here is the "Pinwheel Headband" in black satin. Too Cute!

IF YOU HAVEN'T ANSWERED THE QUESTION IN THE POST BELOW, GIVE IT A GANDER. THANKS EVERYONE FOR YOUR INPUT SO FAR!!
