Leaves are falling

This last weekend was so much fun! We did some great autumn activities and here are the pictures to prove it!

We went to Day Farms for some pumpkin fun with Jeanette and Jesse. We went on a hay ride as well and Jnut shared the story about the woman that worked there taking a pic of all of us and she called Lola a boy and kept referring to her as "big guy". Wasn't the pink cardigan and flower shoes and beautiful face a girl giveaway? That is why the smiles are so big in the pic below. {I stole these from Jeanette's blog since I haven't been on computer at home all week since poor Chris is a homework maniac!}

Later that night we went to dinner and to the ReAL Salt Lake soccer game with Chris' parents. It was sooo much fun! Lola loved it too. She would clap and dance and say "woo woo woo". It was adorable! Plus they won and are in the playoffs now. They have a game here on Halloween at 4pm. It is way fun, so if you are looking for something fun to do Saturday afternoon, you should go!

Lola with Granny and Papaw

We also went to my parents house. Nic and I made sugar cookies and decked out the dinner table with "Addam's Family candle holders". My mom and dad came in and laughed at the Halloween ambiance. ha ha We are funny!

Lola must be saying "Uh oh". With awesome bed head AKA Jew fro. {no offense, I love jewish people, I learned that from Jonah Hill and Seth Rogan.}

Making messes like a pro.

I am a little behind... but there is the recap.

Lola's 1st pair of skinny jeans

My mom and I were discussing how Lola needed a pair of skinny jeans and like the great mamah she is, she ordered her some from Baby Gap immediately!! So when my mom came up to babysit and sleepover this week she brought the adorable jeans with her.

Here is some of the fun that ensued...

{fun at lunch}

{she's not amused...}

{hanging at aunt Cheralyn's with baby Amelia}

I wish I looked half as good as Lou in my skinny's!!

Music Monday- NEW OWEN!!!!!

I had to hold back from posting this Tuesday of last week I was so excited and can't believe I didn't have the CD before then.... GEES! Owen AKA Mike Kinsella is only one of my favorite artists EVER!!! My BFF Kristi introduced me to him back in 2003 or something like that. Ever since then I have been in love. Sadly, I have only seen him once live and the set was very short. He tours solo usually because he records all the instruments himself, so he plays acoustic on tour. Mike rarely tours off the east coast, I pray he will return to Utah someday! Although some of the people in the crowd were obnoxious, so I don't know if that will happen. He is such an amazing artist and I have talked about him numerous times on her before... so I will stop here. This is off his new album "New Leaves" that came out in September.
{disclaimer: there is an expletive at the very end of the song.... beware.}

If I ever see my headbands on here, I quit

So while I was perusing my google reader this morning, I came across this gem... REGRETSY. It is basically the ridiculous, ugly, crazy, and horrible things that people post on Etsy. I looked through it briefly this morning and believe me, these things are legitimately awful. I can't believe the things that people think of and post and think may actually sell. It gave me a great chuckle. Here are some examples for you!! {disclaimer: some things on the site are of a more mature nature. }
READ THE DESCRIPTIONS, THEY CAN BE THE BEST PART!
{is this real? I am scared!}

{what is this? a decoration, a toy, a Halloween decoration?}

{note the belly button through the sheer shirt, that's hot! This must be a store for overweight, gay, gentlemen}

{wow}

{you think someone would be concerned about buying the hat?!}
If you visit the site, please do share your favorite item{s} with me. This may be a new hobby of mine!! Thank you internet!

MUSIC MONDAY- PHOENIX

I have been wanting to highlight these guys for a while, but something else always comes up. Phoenix has been around for a long time and they are a very talented band. The first time I remembered hearing them was on the movie "Shallow Hal", "Too Young" from the album "United"...(2000) by the way, I love that movie and own it, you can all laugh now. I LOVED that song and I can't believe I didn't get into them more back then, coulda, woulda, shoulda...

These songs, yes I was generous and gave you 2 this week, are both from the album "Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix" that came out in May.

"Why you gotta be diva"

The title is what Chris says to Lola more and more often lately. It is one of his best baby-talk lines. She already has attitude and shows it on an almost daily basis. It is more funny than anything but we don't want her developing any bad habits ha ha That is what he says when the "diva" comes out.
Yesterday Lola and I went to my friend Tami's house and had lunch with her and her 2 cute kidlets. After Lola broke her baby food jar on the tile floor {oh dear} and finished lunch....we were all playing and I was holding baby Leo. Lola wanted to hold him because she LOVES little babies, so I put him on her lap and she gave him a huge hug and was so cute. So I pulled out my phone and started taking pictures and the pictures tell the rest of the story...
{playing with his mouth and having a great time}

{a little less interested}

{what is this!? a smack in the face!!! Don't worry, it wasn't hard, he didn't even flinch but GEES!! I told her NO and she looked me in the face and did it again! Look at the joy in her face. *hangs head in shame*}

After the incident, we tried on her Halloween costume! Thanks to Tami for letting us borrow it. I think it is the cutest ever!! Lola also played with Lucy and her fun toys! {sadly I didn't snap a pic of them playing}

Now I need to figure out what I am going to be for the annual family Halloween party this weekend. Any ideas? What are you guys being for Halloween?

Music Monday- Regina Spektor

I am finally getting around to blogging about Regina. I must admit, I hadn't gotten into Regina Spektor before this newest album came out.... I know, shame on me!!! Now I will get all of her older stuff and love it too, I am sure. Anyway, I CAN NOT GET ENOUGH of this new album. She is such a beautiful person with a beautiful voice. Today's song is "Eet"from the album, "Far", released in June. {It was hard to just pick one song, they are ALL so good!}

What a beauty!!

Looks like there is another concert to add to my list... She will be here November 6th, get tickets HERE.

The SHOW!!!

{Disclaimer: I am trash talking in this post... but this is my blog so what the hey :) }
Last night was the Passion Pit show and it was a BLAST!!! Brit and I had a grand old time!! Minus one thing... dumb, belligerent, obnoxious-drunk girls...seriously ladies, do you need to say and do the following things repeatedly {and drive EVERYONE around you nuts??}

The Offenders:

{aka groupies, they were trying to hit on the band and get free things from them... like what, a shweaty towel or a used bottle of water??}

The Offenses:

  • Taking literally 50 self portraits {"K guys lets be sexy".... "let's dance".... "let's be sassy"... etc}

  • Then proceed to say over and over "This is going on Facebook, mobile upload!" and "I am gonna tag the sh*t out of you on Facebook" and "This is going to make John so jealous".

  • They danced crazy, even when the band wasn't playing and kept saying, "Why are we the only ones dancing right now?" Answer: Because you are dancing to the intermission, background music and you are too drunk to know!

  • Smacking people in the face with their bleached blond hair, whilst dancing uncontrollably.

  • Hitting people in the face with their camera phone in their out-stretched hand, while taking more self-photos.

I am a patient person but I was about to lose it, so we moved over where there was more room and more fun dancing going on and the rest of the show was a joyous occasion. I even ran into my good buddy Dallin. We go clear back to the days of working at AE!! I love him!!

Passion Pit, in the flesh

A big old THANK YOU to Brit for being my date for the night and for dancing lots and laughing at crazy people with me. Passion Pit was awesome live and I can't wait for our next outing!!

{I had a really hard time getting these self photos to work, I promise we were considerate of others while attempting to take them. I literally took 15 different tries to end up with these 2 that I got ha ha}

The band being great...

PSA

There is a frame on the wall by the time clock up front of the warehouse. They rotate the picture in it monthly and sometimes it seems even more often then that. The posters are usually pretty cheesy and silly but have little tid-bits of safety info and common sense things.

Well this last one for September wins an award. The first time I saw it I was by myself and laughed out loud at it whilst reaching for my phone to take a pic... no phone, no luck.

The next time I saw it I was with my friend Jess and she started laughing and asked if I thought it was as funny as she thought it was. I assured her that I did and ran her through the first instance of seeing it. Again, I reached for my phone to snap a picture, no luck.

Fast forward to Monday. I am on a call and after I get done, I flip around in my seat and notice something new... my awesome friend had put the poster up in my cubicle while I was on the call!!! I started laughing so hard and immediately called her to thank her for my gift! Here it is, I think it is mostly the goofy/creepy looking male "model". I have had multiple people tell me that he is creeping them out. Lets see how long it takes for someone to have enough of him and tear him down HA HA

I think I may have to start a new blog feature to show you these "awesome" posters, that are so "helpful". These are almost as bad as the Motivational Posters. {please tell me you think those are as ridiculous and I think they are!} When we remodeled the upstairs offices and my friend was helping to decorate it, I made her PROMISE me she would not hang any of those awful/tacky posters up anywhere!

There have been some additions to the poster in the last couple of days.... those will be in the next chapter of the story.

P.S. Passion Pit is tonight and its not too late to get a ticket if any of you want to join Brit and I!!!

Ok apparently I am out of the loop because I had to find out *today* that this Wednesday, yes 10/7, PASSION PIT is here at Urban Lounge, yes I pretty much LOATHE the Urban Lounge but I would be willing to sacrifice in order to see Passion Pit and dance to my little heart's content....

WHO WANTS TO COME!?!?!? Anyone, it is only $19 I do believe. Jeanette, Brit, Amanda, etc

These guys are awesome, remember...

You know you love Shabby Apple

Music Monday

The Sounds had a new album come out on June 2nd, "Crossing The Rubicon". I was so excited and this album has not disappointed. Back a while ago when I went to the No Doubt concert, The Sounds opened for them and I may have been more excited for them then No Doubt {they were good too, but I have liked, not loved No Doubt...} Anywho, the lead singer Maja is awesome and has some kick ass moves, plus I think Amanda and I both want to be her.... This band is from Sweden, which is neat in-and-of itself. Their past 2 albums are great too- "Living in America", 2002 and "Dying to Say This to You", 2006. Here is my fav song off the new album:

Autumn has arrived!!

I am so excited for Fall. I wish this season were a bit longer though. Winter always comes too soon and stays way too long. So I will enjoy this short but sweet affair with Fall.

Plans for this weekend:
  • Hang out with Amanda and Scotty tonight!
  • Get my hair done in the morning. {If you love in Utah County, go to Chelsea at the Aveda salon in Springville. She is fabulous!!}
  • CONFERENCE! I love conference weekend. Good food, family, jammies, and the good word :)
  • Relaxing and helping my mom do some organizing/deep cleaning projects.

I have taken some cute pics of Lou lately and thought I would share some of them. I need a nice camera so I stop taking pictures of her with my blackberry.... someday!!

Eating the washcloth

She loves to play with my makeup brushes and makeup in general
