This weekend...

... we did the following.
  • Went shopping at the mall {Macy's up here has a MAC counter now, how did I not know that earlier!}
  • I got a new PHONE
  • Went on a mini-date with my cute hubby at yummy El Matador
  • Hung out with Papaw and Granny AKA Mike and Betsy
  • Went to mewithoutYou and The Dear Hunter, with good buddies.
  • Saw ducks on our little walk at an awesome park in Layton

Lola watching the ducks.

  • Went to the Library and got our Davis County Library cards and checked out books {Chris was so excited and was even more excited that it was free, he is so cute!}

Lola reading "Chicken Soup With Rice", one of my childhood favorites.

  • Had such a great weekend!

We are excited to spend this weekend down in Utah County with the other side of the fam for the 4th!!! One of my very favorite holidays!

M U S I C M O N D A Y

How about something a little older... not too old, but not brand new?? Today's special is Black Kids- "I'm Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend How To Dance With You", from the album "Partie Traumatic". The bad news is they disabled embedding on their music video, so I couldn't get the actual video... just click HERE to see it or watch them perform on Letterman below. They are fun and the music is happy and the album is very enjoyable, it came out last July. This is one of my current ring tones, gotta love it!

I NEED MORE OPINIONS ON THE MUSIC: IF YOU- LIKE IT, HATE IT, THINK ITS OK, IS ONE OF YOUR FAV'S, YOU WANT TO CHECK THIS BAND OUT NOW, ETC. :)

P.S. I deleted my player on the side, because I feel it may cause confusion with this new feature. Was this a good thing to do?

HOLLY HOMEMAKER?

I have been reading so many cute, creative, and inspiring blogs lately. {I hope they don't mind me linking their blogs....} It has really lit something inside of me. I have decided that I want to start being more "self-sufficient" {for lack of a better term}. I want to start making things for my home. Especially when it comes to interior design, remodelling, and things of that nature. There are a few rooms in my house that I would really like to paint and spruce up.

So after looking at some great blogs, I decided to make one of the projects I saw. After work, I ran to HOBBY LOBBY {which is heaven on earth for the crafting fiends, which I have recently become} and after Lola went off to sleepyland, the creating began. I had a lot of fun making these and was pretty happy with the end result, especially since I was just winging it!

I got the idea from another blog where she linked us to THIS website. {scroll down to see the free pattern that you can print and use!} I switched it up a little and I like how it turned out. Hopefully this "bug" will keep up and I can continue to create. The next step... actually painting one of the rooms in my house... why does that seem so daunting to me?!
Sorry the pic is so dark, I took it after I was done last night. When I get them hung tonight I'll take a better pic and post that too.

P.S. Heard the news a bit ago... R.I.P. M J. Thriller is awesome... and so were you, back then.

Monday Music... Passion Pit

I can't get enough of these guys lately. I can listen to them over and over {right now}. The song is "Sleepyhead" by Passion Pit, from the album "Manners", that came out last month. This has a fun electro-synth sound and makes you want to dance. Love it! According to their website, this album wasn't intended to be heard by anyone but the dude's girlfriend and a few friends. But as most good things do, it got spread through blogs and other means of communication and turned into a full-length album. I hope you like it as much as I do!!

In other news, this weekend we had some eventful things happen:
  • Lola went swimming for the first time.

Just like her dad, she is so silly!

She wouldn't keep the sunglasses on...

...or the hat

  • Devin and Lisa got hitched {their friend Bonnie married them, it was really sweet}
  • so did Melissa and Jayson {beautiful wedding! It was sunny just long enough for them to have a gorgeous ceremony outside}
  • Fathers Day!! Chris opened his gifts early, so the day was fairly uneventful :) But I would like to say that I feel so blessed to have great dad's in my life:
  • First, my hubby Chris who keeps things lively and reminds me not to take things too seriously. {I can get ornery when he pesters me, but he's just trying to be fun ha ha... I sound like a party-pooper} I love him loads!
  • Then my dad Ron, who is the sweetest, hardest working man I have ever known. He makes me so happy and takes good care of our family. Not to mention he makes me peanut butter bars whenever I request them, THANKS DAD!
  • Also my father-in-law Mike, he is the best "man cook" around. Chris and I would starve every Sunday if it weren't for him. Lola absolutely adores him {and her other grandpa too} Mike can make her laugh with the best of them.

Thanks to all you guys! You are great examples and mean so much to me.

Lola's First Hair Net

Oh gees, this is so funny! My aunt watches Lola Monday and Wednesdays. Well on weds my aunt Cheralyn and her son Chase go on fun field trips with kids in their neighborhood. Since Lola is there, she is lucky enough to go as well. {thanks to Cheralyn for taking both kids, she says Lola is her training baby since she is expecting her 2nd in the fall. Yes my aunt is young, she is only 8 years older than me :) }

On this last field trip they went to a plant where they make food and they all had to wear hair nets ha ha Look at baby Lola with her binky and hair net. My mom called last night and I told her about the pic, yes, only told her, she hadn't seen it yet and she was laughing so hard!

Without further ado(sp?)...

Chase is right behind Lola, looking at the kid next to him ;)

not sure what is going on with the bottom of the pic, you gotta love camera phones.

and speaking of hair nets... ya that's my segway... I got my hair did as well. Its my snazzy summer do. Thanks Chelsea, you always do such an awesome job! (Trying to be inconspicuous at work, hence the ugg face)

P.S. We are still watching LOST DVD's and we are way too addicted. I neglected everything last night and watched 4 episodes of LOST with Chris. muah ha ha

The Open House

Last Saturday was the first official Open House/Party for Daris Day Shoppe! It went well and was a lot of fun. A huge THANK YOU needs to be expressed to my aunt Heather for organizing this whole thing, letting us use her house, coming up with the displays and taking pics of all the products, oh and doing some of the food. {Ya she is AMAZING!} also my cute mom who did most of the food and watched Lola while I made some of the headbands and during the party so I could help customers :) I also want to thank my friends and family that came. You don't even know how much your support means to me. I am truly humbled by all the things you sweet people do for me!

Here are some pics and don't worry, the only person we didn't get a pic of was.... ME! ha ha

If any of you would be interested in hosting a party for your family and friends, let me know. :)
The cute displays, thanks Heather. She also had the pics of them rotating through on her tv.
Mom, Heather, and Nicole, wearing their headbands and clip(I wish I got more of the people who were there, but I got busy...)
Zoe and Lola playing and wearing their headbands
The great food!! (this is not a requirement for throwing a party ha ha)

Music Monday x2

To make up for last week, here is double the fun!!

1- BAT FOR LASHES- "DANIEL". I seriously heart this band very much!! I haven't been able to stop listening to the new album "Two Suns", it came out in April. "Daniel" is my favorite track, but they are all great! The first album, "Fur and Gold" was soo good, I have talked about it on the blog before. Natasha Khan is seriously fabulous. I love her music and her style.

*Pause the player on the side*

2- DREDG- "Pariah", from their album "The Pariah, The Parrot, The Delusion". This new album came out last week. It is awesome so far and was highly-anticipated, since they haven't release an album since 2005. The last time they toured was back in 2005, that was the concert where Chris saw me for the first time, it was at Saltair. {we didn't put 2 and 2 together until after we had started dating. We didn't speak but he remembered me... It is a cute story :)} Sorry this is a live video, they don't have a video out for this song yet but it is my fav so far.

Again if you have any questions about music or any suggestions or if you hate this feature and want it to leave, let me know!
Coming up next... the open house this last weekend. Thanks to all of you that came, if you didn't we missed you and you missed some yummy food!

she is the queen of the world!

she sneezed and had little boogies, I thought it was funny...

she loves to touch the camera

Por favor

Sorry about no "Music Monday" this week... it may come tomorrow.  This week is ridiculous....
  • Huge headband order
  • Open House this weekend
  • Planning a Relief Society Lesson
  • Usual mom stuff
  • Work {and them screwing me over continually}
  • Life...
But I wanted to remind all of you to come to the open house this weekend!! Everyone is invited, literally.  Even if you read this blog in secret and I don't know you and you think you may not be invited, well you are!! It is an open house, no awkward anything.  Just come and shop and have fun :)

HERE IS THE FAVOR-  I need everyone to go to my website and tell me what headbands are your favorite or which one you would want to buy if you were to buy one.  This isn't you committing to buy it {unless you want to :) } This is just me wanting to know what is more popular so I will know what to start making. {ya I know, nothing like waiting until the last minute.  I would've started a long time ago, if I weren't so dang busy...}  It would be soooo helpful.  Just click on the link HERE to go to the store and check the items out.  I will have some new things at the open house that aren't on the site and WAY CUTE new baby headbands too, different from all the current products!! {they are my fav ones so far!}

Thanks for all your love and support in my business endeavor so far!!  After this week is over I am hoping to revamp the online store and possibly start doing some GIVEAWAYS here on the blog.

P.S.  Daris Day Headbands are sold at:

Brambles Boutique
959 S State
Provo, UT 84606

She mostly has baby headbands but I just replenished her supply and am working on more, hence the huge order.  So go in and tell her{Lisa} I sent you!!

This is what happens when...

...you are having an open house/party for your little biz in a little over a week and then you get a call for an order of 26 {possibly more} headbands, needed in the next few days... {ever so grateful for the business though}

I promise I am normally not this messy.  But when you need everything at arms length, you don't care how "pretty" it looks.  I am hoping this little guy below will help with the organization and ease of finding supplies.  I just got him tonight.

To make things even better, I am sick.  I missed work today because of the lack of my voice.  It is kinda necessary to have when answering a phone all day.  I have had a tissue up my nostril constantly, because its the run down your face at any given moment snot and that is not attractive. {like the tissue is much better}  side note: A friend of mine posted pics of herself with her tissues in both nostrils and I laughed so hard because I was doing the same thing at that exact moment.

So what did I do all night? I sat in my mess, making headbands and of course watching a chick flick.  I hope I can get all these headbands done before Chris and Lola start feeling neglected.

Just so everyone knows, you are all invited to bring whoever you would like, to the open house next week.  The more the merrier!!!

Here is a sneak peek of some newer items that will be added to the store when I have 2 seconds.

Lola trying to grab the camera, as always

Now I'm off to bed, I promise!

Hope to see you all there!!!

Click to ENLARGE

P.S. Lola had her 9 month check up yesterday and here are the stats:

Height: 30"--- 105th percentile
Weight: 23.15lbs-- 110th percentile
Oh and a double ear infection?!? Ya she never gets fussy when she has those, so I had no idea she was sick until the Dr told me she was... she has a high threshold for pain, apparently. She is such a dear. So she gets to take the yummy pink medicine twice a day for the next 10 days.

Music Monday

How about some electronica fun!?

OK here is the band "Cut Copy" with the song, "So Haunted", off the 2008 album "In Ghost Colours". This band is from Australia and they are a lot of fun! The whole album is great, I just happened to pick this song because it tickled my fancy today. Listen in for a minute to get to the really good stuff!
Again, if you guys have any genres you want me to pick from for the next week, let me know!

*PAUSE THE PLAYER ON THE SIDE*

So get out your dancing shoes and have yourself a little dance party. I know me and Lola do fairly often, it makes your day a little better. Chris has the best moves when he is home though ;)

P.S. Coming soon... details on a Daris Day Shoppe headband party in Utah County!!!!

Who's in?!?!
