Post Christmas

I am one of those people who needs at least 4 days off from work to feel like it is Christmas!!! ha ha I am sad that I am back at work already... Here are some pics from the Christmas eve party at Grandma and Grandpa Gordon's.
RoLee, Mom, and Dad

Grandpa, Me, and Grandma {I love them sooo much!!}

The angels in the nativity {my cousins cute lil girls: Taislee, Reagan, and Chloe}

Mary {from behind} my youngest cousin, Eliza.

Christmas was awesome, we were way more spoiled than we deserved. We spent the eve and Christmas morning with my family playing Rock Band {that game is awesome and so much fun} and then drove up to the in laws.
Then the next day I played hookie and went to the Gateway to meet up with my friends Ali and Lauren... this pic is me on the way there. I was pretty happy to not be at work and have Gift Certificates to spend!!! Later that night I picked Chris up after work and we drove the long drive back down to Payson for a the Braithwaite family Boxing Day party!! Where we do our gift exchange etc. :) It was a lot of fun!! But I am glad to have the craziness over with and be able to just do some grocery shopping, rest, and relax tonight while Chris plays Halo3 and cards with the boys ha ha

P.S. One gift I am excited to play more with is Guitar Hero 3- Chris got it for me for Christmas ;)

Pre-Christmas Post!

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!

I thought I would fit in one last blog before Christmas. Yes, I am at work right now and that is not my favorite thing. But it will be worth it when I get my pay check ;) However, I am leaving a little early so we can beat the traffic {if there is any} to Utah County. Tonight is the Gordon Family Christmas Eve Party!!! Easily my favorite party/family get-together of the year. I love it! Lots of good food, good fun, and great family! Here is a pic of us last Christmas morning for your holiday enjoyment.
I wanted to just name a few of my favorite things about Christmas in general and things that have just happened this year that I think Chris and I will make our family traditions...
  • Decorating our house so that we look like the Griswald's... thanks to Chris and his Dad our house looks like a Gingerbread house with tons of lights. The best thing is that we live in a townhouse, so our yard is like 7 ft big ha ha

  • Chris not being able to wait to open gifts. He has literally forced me to open 3 gifts already, through the course of the last week ;)

  • Picking gifts off the "Angel Tree" to by for families less fortunate than us. This was one of the most fun shopping trips I have ever had. Probably because I picked out a Hannah Montana shirt for the girl we were shopping for!

  • Watching Christmas movies and wrapping presents.

  • Watching people wrestle at Grandma Gordon's at the Christmas Eve Party ha ha too many boys in this family!

  • Being with friends and family.

  • People who will let you in their lane on the freeway and are a little nicer drivers around this season.

  • Chris harassing/getting mad when all I want to listen to in the car is Christmas music. But letting me because I love it and sing along to EVERY song.

  • Watching "Mixed Nuts" because it is the best dang Christmas movie out there... {tied with "Christmas Vacation"}

  • Having the "Boxing Day" Party with the Braithwaite side of the family :)

  • I could go ON and ON but I will stop there.

I now leave you with the more AWESOME picture of us last Christmas. We sure are little rascals, aren't we? ha ha Chris and I love you all and wish you a Happy Holiday

Last one of today.... I promise

{why do I look so tired? If this is how I look without glasses, maybe I made the wrong decision to get more contacts ha ha}

Ok so I FINALLY went and got an exam and new contacts yesterday!!! There is good and bad news. Bad first- my prescription has increased a little. Good news- I have new contacts and I am still seeing good enough with my glasses to keep using them. {This is a cheap and great option} Here are a couple goofy pic of me without my glasses :)

Finally- RoLee's Birthday!

So this past Monday we went to dinner at the Olive Garden for my bro RoLee's big 14th Birthday. I can't believe he is getting so old... I have so much more to say about him but I don't want to give away some the things I am going to use for the 14 Reasons I looove RoLee. So here it goes...

14 REASONS WHY I LOVE ROLEE KEITH aka ROLAIDS!

  1. This picture pretty much explains it, he is funny in the subtlest way, most of the time. After Nicole took this picture, I looked at it and started laughing so hard. I said, "RoLee you didn't smile" and he said "I know, I did it on purpose" ha ha That little Goober! You gotta love him! {Ryk and RoLee}

  2. He is Best Friends with his lil brother Ryker. They have so much fun together. They still share a room {and a queen-sized bed} and they don't even mind. They love having the company. Although RoLee will be taking Rhett's room when he leaves for his mission in the end of January.

  3. He is a smart kid! He does great in school and is on the student counsel. {which is nominated by the teachers} He goes to charter school and loves it and has been learning a lot and has great teachers.

  4. He is taller than me! Ya he is 14 and taller than me! He is close to 6' and is sturdy like a football player; not to mention, he already wears a size 12 shoe!

  5. He also loves making home movies with Ryker. He likes to come up with creative ideas and direct. They recently told me they made 2 of their own episodes of "The Office"! I am so excited to see them and hope they will show me later tonight ;) {Rhett and Rolaids- P.S. Chris told RoLee his Rolaids flavor is Orange, Blaze, Thunder! and him and Chris even have a pose for their commercial some day}

  6. He is a sweetie. He can be very tender hearted and cares a lot about other people. He was having a hard night last week because his piano teacher gave him a hard time and it really affected him.

  7. To go with the above, he is great at playing the piano. I love going to watch him at recitals and such. Their teacher has them memorize their recital pieces and he always makes me so proud of him.

  8. He is a master at Guitar Hero. He can play all the hard songs and some expert ones. Sometimes he doesn't even have to watch the screen... coordinated-pants :P {Nic and Rhett}

  9. He will always hang out with me when I go down to my parents'. We can play Guitar Hero or watch a movie or run an errand and he is up for it.... unless...

  10. ....there is a sports game on TV that he wants to watch. He loves sports and loves BYU. For a gift this year him, Ryker, and my dad all got season tickets to BYU football for 2008. He is stoked!

  11. He will say the funniest things very unexpectedly. We will be chatting and all the sudden he will throw in the funniest line or comment. It always catches me off guard and I love it!

  12. One of my fav memories was Halloween last year. We were carving pumpkins and he wanted me to help him, so we got on the internet and found the most awesome skull and cross bones. {that is what he had been looking for} So I printed it out and carved the pumpkin just like it. {my best pumpkin ever, if I do say so} He was so stoked! He kept being like, "Mine and Dari's pumpkin is so awesome!" and "I love our pumpkin Dari, it looks great!". The best part was that he told me if he ever got a tattoo {if it wasn't against the rules} he would get that skull and cross bones. ha ha He is a cutie! {side note about the below pic... Mom is making yet, another, crazy smile. This time I confronted her about it. I said something like, you are funny, why did you open your mouth so wide mom... she said something about Barbara Walters saying that you will never have a bad smile with an open mouth one... which lead to Chris starting a convo about "The View", etc and how we all HATE that show. I then proceeded to tell Mom that she looks like a muppet when she smiles like that ha ha She even got a kick out of that ;) Isn't my dad the cutest?}

  13. Sometimes when I say, "I love you" to him, he says "K" back ha ha I don't think he thinks about it. Sometimes he will say I love you but it makes me giggle when he doesn't!

  14. Last- we always teased that he was the milkman's child. Because he looks a lot different than the rest of us with his reddish hair and all. Also he is so quiet and reserved and NONE of us are like that.... AT ALL. But then I would always feel bad that people teased him, so I made a conscious effort to give him more attention so he wouldn't grow up and have a complex! ha

Thanks RoLee for being a great bro and partner in crime. I love you so much!!!

Last but not least, Chris and I :)

For the sake of Stupidity!

Ok I try not to post all the funny things that I find on Youtube.... but this time I could not freakin resist. You just have to see for yourself. I stole this from Zach's blog. It made me laugh so hard. If you don't have almost 4 spare minutes, just watch how it works at the beginning and then fast forward to 1:34 and that is when the action really sets in HA HA HA Maybe it is not as funny to anyone else but I couldn't stop giggling when I saw it tee hee hee This would actually take a long time to coordinate and learn. KUDOS LADIES!

Comments and f.r.i.e.n.d.s.

I have noticed lately that I have a lot of profile views each night... but no comments :( If you come by to say hi- let me know what you think or how you are doing or what ever you would like! I would love to hear from any of you :-)

Last night was great fun! N'utter came over and we ate some fast food din-din, watched "Sex and the City" DVD's, exchanged gifts, and chatted. Here is proof.... ha ha granny Jeanette was getting vewy sweepy by the time this pic rolled around and shortly there after she headed home for the evening to catch up on some ZZZZZ's...

In the meantime, Kate and her newly dubbed fiance had come to see my place {I know, it took them a very long time to do so} and exchange Christmas gifts. I am so excited for them and their fresh engagement. They are getting married June 20th. It was great to be able to see a few friends all in one night, even though I felt bad that mine and N'utters night was interrupted. {We will make up for that soon}

A quick update...

Not much to blog about at the moment. I am really mad that my picture in my heading is cut off... I tried fixing it.... to no avail!!! :-( Let me know if any of you have suggestions on how to fix it.

Last night I went with the Young Women and we saw the Christmas Carol play in Ogden. It was a lot of fun!!! Even though we only took 3 girls because the rest of them were performing in a choir concert. {The young men planned the activity, so we didn't have the option of moving it...}

Also Monday night we went to dinner for RoLee's BIG 14th Birthday! So as soon as I get the pics, I will do a RoLee birthday blog.... Tonight Nutter and I are hanging out and exchanging gifts so hopefully I will have pics to share tomorrow!!!! :)

P.S. Less than a week until Christmas aahh!!!!

In memory...

I found out at the end of last week, that a friend of mine had passed away. I knew him fairly well when I first started working at American Eagle in the Provo mall. He would come over all the time and visit, he worked at Gap. He was always such a sweet and happy person. We lost touch for a while but then reconnected through mutual friends at a party Joey was throwing. He had more earthly struggles than I hope I would ever have to deal with. I know he is in a better place where he will not have to suffer any longer. Even though he was not one of my close friends, I have warm memories and feelings associated with him. It always tough when someone you know passes away. This is a copy of his obituary from the Daily Herald.

Surprises and the usual...

This weekend we headed down to my parents. Friday we tried to connect with Scott and Ali and it just was not happening.... oh well. Gifts will have to be exchanged with Ali once she is back from her home in sunny Florida :)

Saturday I met up with my High School friends at Leslie's clubhouse at her condos. It was a blast!! We ate, chatted, opened exchange gifts, ate dessert, and chatted some more. We got some good reminiscing done in a 4 hour period of time! I am so mad because I took my camera and didn't take a single, one photo. You can tell I am not used to being the one with a camera! After that Chris and I met up with my Mom and Dad and Nicole and ate at Carrabba's. Yummy! Then Chris and I headed back north...

Sunday was the usual except Chris was unable to make church with me because of work.... AGAIN! But when I was done with church, I had a voicemail from Betsy {Chris' mom} saying to come straight to her house because she wanted to show me her new watch and ask me some Christmas questions and Chris had left a message as well saying to go to his parents and that his dad was at our place. So I KNEW something fishy was going on.... LUCKILY it was good fishy and this is what him and his dad had been doing!!!!!!!!

Christmas-afying our yard! ha ha It is so cute and we look like a gingerbread house or something now. He is the sweetest to think of cute little surprises like that for me ;) What a sweetheart. He thought he would pose with his work of art ha ha {Don't mind the gang signs he is flashing!}

Chase and I

Last night I had the pleasure of babysitting my little cousin Chase. We share the same birthday and are exactly 22 years apart... ya I am old enough to be his mom! For dinner we got Cafe Rio to go then we watched Thomas the tank engine Christmas and ate suckers, then we got ready for bed, read a book and that was our night. He is such a sweetie and can talk soo much now! It freaks me out. He is like a mini adult ha ha I lived with them a year ago while Chris and I were trying to find a house and were wedding planning, so I have been lucky enough to get to know him well. I love Chase :)

As you can see, his sucker was chocolate flavored ha ha It wasn't worth cleaning him up every five minutes. So we did it at the end ;)

He is a little cutie guy

Chase LOVES trains and especially Thomas the Tank Engine. He can name all of the trains! This is him watching it and naming the trains. (sorry about how dark it is)

Bat for Lashes

I felt like I needed to do a blog about Bat For Lashes. I bought the CD a few months ago and I still listen to it constantly.... this is weird for me. I will usually do that for a few weeks with a new CD, that I love, but it has been months people. That means this CD is so dang good!!!So I thought all of you should know how amazing Natasha is and should check her out if you haven't already. I know J'Nutter is already a fan!! :) Here is a video for your enjoyment!

Here is her BIO:

Bat For Lashes is the work of British singer/ songwriter, multi- instrumentalist and visual artist Natasha Khan. Born in 1979, yet combining influences that span decades, Natasha’s work dwells in the elemental, emerging in timeless forms.

Bat For Lashes’ music is bold and vivid. Her live shows, with accomplices Ginger Lee, Abi Fry and Lizzy Carey, are made up of thunderous marching band drums, desert guitar, ballet school piano, harpsichord, sub-bass snarls, hand-claps and naive beats, with the women fluidly switching and swapping their instruments between songs. There are also interludes of exquisite heartbreak; the piano ballad 'Sad Eyes' has on more than one occasion left audience members in tears. Her debut album Fur and Gold is a very special record, a cohesive collection of songs so haunting and mesmerizing it makes a striking impression on all who hear it.
It was whilst working as a nursery school teacher, following her university degree in film and music, that Fur and Gold album opener 'Horse & I' came to Natasha in a dream. Inspired by tales of Joan of Arc, Natasha is woken by a black horse at the window and sent on a fateful quest. This extraordinary dream became the muse for the songs that now comprise Fur and Gold.

Recorded in London and Brighton, Natasha co-produced the album with David Kosten (Faultline). Recurrent themes of natural forces and animal kingdoms, rugged English cliff tops and engulfing oceans – highlighted on the lament 'Seal Jubilee', are juxtaposed by the energy of rough urban living, teenage bedrooms and the freedom of California highways. Josh T Pearson (Lift To Experience) guests, adding guitar and vocals on three tracks – the brooding live favorite 'Trophy', 'Seal Jubilee' and the finale 'I Saw A Light', adding the kind of hymns and chaos that only the son of a preacher could provide.

Bat For Lashes played her first big show in London supporting CocoRosie at the Scala at the end of 2005. A year later almost to the day, Bat For Lashes headlined a sold out Scala, where the likes of Bjork, Nellee Hooper and Brett Anderson were to be seen in the sold out crowd. Other fans include Devendra Banhart, Jarvis Cocker and Thom Yorke (who chose 'Horse & I' for his iTunes Top Ten Playlist, saying "I love the harpsichord and the sexual ghost voices and bowed saws. This song seems to come from the world of Grimm's fairytales, and I feel like a wolf.")
Having spent parts of her childhood in Pakistan, Natasha Khan now lives by the sea in England.

Scary Christmas display

Last night Monica and I took our Young Women to Ogden to to see the lights and cute little houses that are filled with Christmas displays by local businesses.
But we saw the funniest thing when we were there, to come later in the story! We were all walking around looking at the displays and chasing the girls, telling them to be quiet and quit running, etc. These are some of the things our girls were freaking over: First- for some reason Emma had to scream and hide and make a big scene everytime she saw Santa in a display. She kept saying, "I am afraid of Santa", mind you she is 14 and craves attention... I think she probably loves Santa but loves attention more ha ha Second- There was one display of dolls and all the sudden the girls are screaming and all the sudden Carrie says, "It's Chucky" and buries her face in my coat. Now that I can relate to, Chucky scares the everliving crap out of me!!! One or two of the dolls definitely resembled him, eeww creepy. Last- and most importantly... when we approached this next one, I think Monica even screamed ha ha Just look at these pictures!!!!!!

What the devil is going on here?! This was "supposed" to be a Christmas Carol, with the ghosts of the past, present, and future on the wall and such. But then who is this character in the creepy rocking chair with the creepy children and why has no one affixed his head back to his body!? This was creeperific for sure ha ha A good time was had by all!
Here are some pictures of the girls for your enjoyment!

The whole crew (minus me... the photographer)

Silly Emma

Emma and Carrie

Emma getting a little more sultry.. oh dear

And lastly... Carrie again without the coat because she said it made her look fat! Oh gees, 12 year olds should NOT be saying that!

Happy Birthday Nic!!!

Ok so this post is a tribute to my favorite sis Nicole. She sent me these pics from her birthday dinner with the family {which Chris couldn't attend because he wasn't feeling well :(...} and asked that I do 22 things that I love about her because it is her 22 birthday. She said I didn't really have to but I was planning on doing a birthday tribute already so HA I am doing it! But the best part about her request is that she made fun of me at first for having a blog but now I think she coming around to the idea... hence her desire for me to write about her on it ha ha I have to tease you sis. But blogging is a fabulous way to stay in touch and up to date with friends and family. {This is the reason you should get one Colee!!}

Here we go: I know it looks long, but it is worth a read!!

22 Reasons why I lover love my lil Sis and BFFer Colee

  1. She is Beautiful! She always looks so stylish and put-together.

  2. She is neat and tidy to the max. Her bed is always made and her clothes are always put away and she is the first to clean and tidy up her apt.

  3. I have a very strong kinship with her, I feel like even though we may not get along at times... when we do, {more often then not} we are like twin personalities.

  4. She can be a dirty bird with me ha ha we enjoy sharing our crude humor with each other and oddly enough we bring it out in each other, don't ask me why...

  5. I love playing Guitar Hero with her, it gets a little intense at times.

  6. She has a strong testimony of the gospel and works hard at her callings.

  7. To go along with above, she is a great example to those around her.

  8. She can be very dedicated when eating healthy... I always give in and say just this once. {repeatedly...} But when she is dedicated, she will stick to it. {Just think of me and the red vines incident tee hee}

  9. We love the movie "Mixed Nuts" and we love quoting it, we still need to watch it this Christmas season! If you haven't seen it, you need too and don't let any reviews sway you. It is freaking HILARIOUS!!!! A Christmas favorite, we share this passion with our aunt Cheralyn as well.

  10. I love her bangs, I have gone back and forth with the straight across fringe on myself but it looks so much better on her!

  11. I love that she looks beautiful without much makeup on. I was always jealous that she didn't need hardly any makeup to look cute.

  12. She has great teeth. She never has cavities or anything and I do all the time. When we were little, she would not brush her teeth on a very regular basis {when I would} at night and I always wished that she would get tons of cavities like I always had... never happened.

  13. She is good at her job. Her office would go under if it weren't for her amazing dental assisting skills. Not because anyone else is bad at their job, but because she does so much there and everyone loves her and never wants her to leave. <3
  14. {Note my Mom's face in the above picture HA!}

  15. She is a great friend. She loves her friends so much and would do anything for them. She still has the same friends she had in High School and I think they will all be friends forever.

  16. She can make some great funny faces, when we shared a bedroom back in the day, we would look away from each other and then look back and have a different funny face each time. I always told her I was gonna hit her on the top of the head and she would be stuck that way.

  17. She has always had my back. Even if it is one of her friends that she is defending me to. i.e. When I was in elementary school, an unnamed friend {ok knowing who the friend was makes it better.. it was Becky Theobald ha ha} and I were playing and we got in a fight and she was being rude to me {a regular occurrence} and Nicole had had enough, so she hit Becky in the head with one of those big red plastic baseball bats ha ha ha You don't mess with the Gordon's!

  18. She would participate in my dance choreographing and playing dance class when we were little even though she didn't like to. It was my dream to be a dance teacher when I was little and I would choreograph like CRAZY all the time in my childhood. Her, the neighbors, and cousins would always be the ones who had to learn and perform my dances. {I am sure Angie, Marilee, and Jennie can vouch for this}

  19. She burned me with the end of a blow dryer once. {on accident} It was hilarious because we were getting ready for school and she totally didn't mean to do it, she felt so bad. But it was great that I had a target shaped burn on my back for a few months.

  20. She is great with children. She loves kids and has nannied for my aunt for the last few years. Kids love her!

  21. I love that she used to love to give me piggy back rides. Even though I was always bigger than she was. {I will try my darnedest to track down the funniest picture of her giving me a piggy back.} She used to always want me to get on her back so she could piggy back me down the stairs. Aahhh that is scary but she could always do it. ha ha I am laughing out loud right now thinking about it!

  22. I love our conversations together. Especially about secret things. It is great that she is old enough now that we can relate to each other and share our experiences to help each other out. {Insert one quarter please... inside joke}

  23. Last but not least... I love that when we both go home to my parent's house that we can stay up till all hours of the night talking, sharing music, and emails and then sleeping in the same bed {when Chris can't come down because of work} It is fun to have a great friend that is my sis :)

I LOVE YOU COLEE!!!

I could go on and on but I will stop here and leave more for another time.

Family Home Evening

Ok so it really wasn't FHE but it was on a Monday night. I wanted to wait to put this up with pictures but since I don't have the internet at home and my computer here at work doesn't have a memory card slot... they will have to be added at a later date. Which I am very sad about :( I will work on getting them put up here soon.

Monday night Chris decided he wanted to go to the Team Sleep concert with our friend Scott Shepherd. When they do that, it means Ali and I get a girls night!! We met up at our favorite place, URBAN OUTFITTERS and both did some Christmas shopping and a little bit of shopping for ourselves too ;) I actually found the cutest hounds tooth jacket (Jeanette, I remembered. wink, wink) that was originally $100 and I snagged it for $19.99!!! Yay for the sale racks!

After Urban we headed to dinner at Thaifoon. Ali had never been there but I swore to her that it is very tasty, so we ate there and she loved it! By that time, everything was closed at the good ole Gateway, so we headed to the Coffee Break... I know, I know. It's a little trendy and stupid scene-ish at times, but it is a great place to go sit and chat. I enjoyed a loverly carmel apple cider and she got a hibiscus tea that she thoroughly enjoyed as well. We chatted and chatted and then headed to see if the Temple Square lights were still on. Ali has never seen them. Well they were already off so we drove around for a bit till we could meet up with the boys. I had a great night and I love Ali's company, we get along splendidly :) It was a very fun FHE night...

Last night Chris and I watched The Namesake. I loved it and I recommend it to all of you! Please go out and rent it, you will enjoy it, I am sure! I laughed and cried and it was a heart-warming story. Last but not least... we were FINALLY able to purchase the documentary by Sigur Ros- Heima. We watched that as well and it was beautiful! Definitely brought a tear to my eye a few times. Chris and I had a fun night of movie watching together and trying to get Cooper to hold still so I could brush his fluffy fur ha ha

Let the Christmas Season begin

This was a great way to start out December! Here are a few reasons why:

  1. We went to to dinner at the Gateway with friends and then went to the lights at Temple Square

  2. I got my hair did!

  3. We got the rest of our bedroom furniture! Here is the dresser with the mirror.
  4. We went to dinner with Chris' parents and their friends then the guys played cards and the girls went to see Enchanted! (which was so cute)

  5. When I arrived home after the movie Chris surprised me with a pre-lit Christmas Tree, a new wreath on the door, a cute stocking for Cooper, and his mom bought him a Shrek toothbrush and a Dora the Exlporer one for me! :)

Ok this wreath is so funny, apparently since I love my dog, Chris felt I needed a dog wreath for the door. If you look closely you can see that the dogs ears are blurry, this is because he is singing and his ears are shaking... so the best part of it is that it is motion sensored and it can scare the crap out of anyone that comes to the door ;) ha ha!!

Chris is such a sweet husband! I was so so excited that he had bought a tree!! I love it and it makes our home feel more Christmas-y and cozy! Then on Sunday his mom gave me some cute, basic bulb ornaments that I really like. Our tree is coming together nicely.
